Women Like Us

Bringing women and employers together with flexible work

Designers seek flexible marketing

Energy Design Studio was struggling to find an experienced marketer who wanted to work part-time. Their usual word-of-mouth approach had not worked. They contacted Women Like Us with a brief to look for a former high-level marketing professional who wanted to mix a senior role with flexible hours. In no time, they’d found their woman.

“I had been looking for someone for months, and though good candidates had been coming through, they had all been looking for full-time work which would have been too much for us,” says Andrew Rose of Energy Design Studio. “When a friend told me about Women Like Us, I thought that their links at the school gates sounded like a great alternative to our usual word-of-mouth network. The fact that they specialise in part-time recruitment meant that we had a chance to find a person that had, until now, been eluding us.”

“We got in touch and the candidates they put forward were all women who had built up impressive careers in marketing and were now looking to pick those careers up again in a part-time role to fit around their families. This was a perfect match for us as this had to be part-time in order for the role to be cost-effective. What had been difficult to organise suddenly became quite straightforward.

“We interviewed, chose our new marketer and now a month in, it is going very well. Flexibility is an important strategy for our business growth but we still want experienced professionals. I was beginning to think that the two don’t mix, but Women Like Us has clearly got a talent for creating those partnerships.”
