Women Like Us

Bringing women and employers together with flexible work

Free support

We run a programme of support and advice for women who want to get back to work after a break to raise a family.

It’s a practical and fast paced programme, aimed at women who are keen to get a job within the next six months.

It's free to most women who have children, live in London, and are not currently working (or work less than 8 hours per week). Places are subject to availability. To find out if we can offer you a place, click here to register with us.

Read below to find out how the programme works, or click here to find out about the types of reasons why you might benefit from our support.

Introduction session

The programme starts with this taster session. You’ll get to know us better and find out more about what we can offer you. You’ll also begin to focus on your work skills and how you can get them across to employers through your CV.

One to one session

You’ll then have an individual session with one of our career coaches. Together, we’ll discuss your skills and the job you’re looking for. You’ll identify the areas where you need more support and decide on the next steps you need to take.

If you need help with finding training courses, sorting concerns about benefits, how to set up your own business or any other specific issues, we’ll arrange further support for you, or refer you to the right organisation, as necessary.

Workshops

You can pick and choose from any of the following workshops, depending on your needs:

  • Focus on you – in this workshop you’ll focus on your values, skills, past experience and what you now want from a job. From there, you’ll build your confidence in what you can offer an employer.
  • Making great applications – this is where you’ll learn how to make your job application stand out from the crowd. You’ll work on how to impress an employer through a strong and clear application form, CV or cover letter.
  • Interview success – tips on preparing answers to likely questions, how to get across points that you want to make (even if you’re not asked about them!) how to dress, body language...  all this and more.
  • Your job search – at this workshop you’ll get ideas on how to look for jobs, including how to find part-time work that fits round your family. You’ll also learn how to focus your search on jobs you really want to do, and where you’re well qualified so likely to succeed.

Extra one-to-one support

About 3 months into the programme, when you will probably be beginning to apply for jobs, our career coach will meet with you again to iron out final issues and ensure that you really are ‘job ready’. And at any time throughout your job application phase, you can organise a 30 minute session at our resource centre, where coaches are available to answer questions and offer quick support on specific issues.
